Experiencing Los Angeles & Tel Aviv Through the Eyes of Their New GMs As the new general managers for two cities of different cultures and customs, Los Angeles and Tel Aviv, new GM’s Mary and Joe have encountered both the struggles and triumphs of a working life in each city. Below, we’ll explore Mary and Joe’s unique journeys: Los Angeles: Mary has always loved the hustle and bustle of hustling and bustling city life. From the bright lights of downtown, to the sandy beaches near LAX, Mary quickly embraced the energy which the city of Los Angeles had to offer – and in doing so was able to climb up the corporate ladder quickly too. She experienced the city’s many nuances first-hand, and soon learned how LA has to offer an array of different types of fun – from celebrity-filled red carpets, to secret jazz bars ineffable neighborhoods. Tel Aviv: For Joe, his move to Tel Aviv was less of a change of scenery, and more of a homecoming. Prior to his role as Tel Aviv’s GM, Joe had lived in the city for many years and already had a deep knowledge of its customs and culture. From cafe-hopping in Jaffa, to people-watching in the city center, Joe was more than familiar with the unique manner in which Tel Avivites live – the bougainvillea-filled alleys in the Neve Tzedek neighborhood, the charming festival committed. With such a deep-rooted understanding of the city, he was able to take a different approach to managing it, and it’s working! 4.
