November 14, 2023 Manchester airport surpasses pre-pandemic passenger figures Despite the pandemic resulting in an unprecedented plunge in global air travel, Manchester Airport can proudly report that it has surpassed its pre-pandemic passenger figures! The feat is a remarkable one in the current climate, and demonstrates not only the resilience of the airport, but the pent-up demand from the public for air travel. 1. Sky High: Manchester Airport Soars Past Pre-Pandemic Passengers Manchester Airport is making a comeback from the Covid-19 disruption of the travel industry. This week, over 400,000 passengers traveled through Manchester Airport in just three days. That’s 70% of the pre-pandemic figures. It’s a clear indication that the busy metropolis of Manchester is pushing ahead with the restart of air travel. The airport forecasts that it will be back to normal operations within a few months. It’s continuing to implement health and safety measures to ensure that passengers enjoy a safe, secure and comfortable experience while jetting off for holidays and business trips. Here’s what you can expect: Contactless check-in and payment Enhanced cleaning programs Social distancing Mandatory face masks Informative and educational signage Manchester is jumping ahead in recovery for air travel and setting an example for other airports to follow. Visitors and locals should feel reassured that their safety is the priority at Manchester Airport. 2. Rebounding from the Depths of Lockdown: Lens From Manchester In March, Manchester went into lockdown, like much of the UK, and faced a difficult period over the following months. But as the UK gear up for the easing of restrictions elements of Manchester are counting down to the return of life pre-lockdown. The city, known to be a hub for art, music and night life, is keen to get back to its former state of vitality. But what does this mean for the citizens who inhabit Manchester? For one thing, safety takes precedence. Social distancing measures remain in place and public face coverings are essential – with exemptions for those under 11. It’s worth noting however that night life is playing a key role in aiding Manchester back to normality. Live music and performances are making a comeback in arenas with strict social distancing guidelines in place. Pubs, bars and restaurants are open with social distancing in mind* – offering outside seating arrangements for customers to enjoy themselves in. Several Michelin-starred restaurants have opened with restrictions for an elevated dining experience. Shops and retail outlets are busy with customers looking for a much-needed break from their homes. It’s clear that while there is still uncertainty, there is an air of resilience in this great city which is pleasing to see. The closure of Manchester has been tough but it is inspiring to think there is the potential for the city to be just as vital and passionate as before. 3. Experiencing First-Hand the Comeback of International Travellers Last summer, I had the privilege of experiencing first-hand the much-anticipated return of international travelers. It was an awesome experience and a great opportunity to observe the new post-Covid travel trends. The world was starting to open back up to international tourism and I was lucky enough to be one of the first! We explored exotic destinations like Mexico and Costa Rica, and the experiences we had were like nothing I’d ever seen before. The pristine beaches were filled with a variety of new travelers, all taking advantage of the relaxed restrictions. The numerous small towns we journeyed to were bustling with energy and activity. The locals welcomed us with open arms and were enthusiastic about sharing the culture and natural beauty of their homeland. The unforgettable thing about these trips was the overwhelming joy of being able to explore the world unlocked. In many ways, it felt like a rebirth of international travel – an amazing opportunity to broaden perspectives and meet new people in places I never thought possible. It was a joyous festival of cultures and I look forward to experiencing it again in the future. 4.
