Qantas Celebrates A 220 Aboriginal Design Qantas recently unveiled its latest aircraft, the Qantas Dreamliner, which features a striking Aboriginal artwork. This artwork, created by Australian artist Amrita Hepi, was chosen in honour of Qantas’ 220th anniversary, celebrating Indigenous Australian culture and creating an opportunity for greater understanding between passengers and Aboriginal heritage. The artwork itself is a vibrant blue canvas, imperfectly pieced together with over 220 dots in strong contrasting colours. The dots represent how the different parts of Aboriginal culture come together, and the power of the collective. The dots themselves are also symbolic; as Hepi explains, ‘the number 220 was a reference to Qantas’ anniversary, and a celebration of 220 First Nations voices’. Colours: The bright, vibrant colours of the artwork represent a celebration of life, with the variety of colours symbolising the diversity of culture in Australia.
