Three perfect Caribbean stays for you and your little ones, whether you’re traveling with a baby, toddler, or a teenager.
Here’s the thing about kids: Different ages require different family vacations. What was a low-key beach trip at the age of three will not be the same at the age of 10. I know because I have a 10-year-old. A very vocal 10-year-old who has been lucky enough to travel with me and likes to make his travel appraisals and critiques known. So, trust me when I say these are the best places in the Caribbean to take kids across three different age ranges.
For Ages 2 to 6: Beaches Turks & Caicos
There’s a reason parents, especially American parents, are in love with this all-inclusive resort, and it’s because Beaches allows them to truly turn their brains off for a few blessed days. No sweating the cost of dinner (at its Turks & Caicos site, there are 18 restaurants to choose from), no need to advance plan activities (there are more than two dozen available, from windsurfing to croquet), no stressing over finding a kid-friendly pool (pick from multiple). At Beaches Turks & Caicos, a vast campus of 758 rooms and counting, everything has been carefully thought out in advance with a family’s entertainment and relaxation in mind.
Case in point: the toddler pool. Picture pint-sized striped loungers, baby-blue umbrellas, and twee South of France vibes to rival a Slim Aarons snap—if he’d shot for the jet-set toddler crowd. Add in a few familiar fuzzy faces (thanks to a Sesame Street partnership) and the holiday magic is off the charts.

While the kids are busy high-fiving Elmo and cannonballing like pros, parents can kick back at the many swim-up bars—cocktails conveniently included in the package, no tab in sight. When it’s time to towel off, a kid’s fun is just getting started: think all-you-can-scoop ice cream counters, soda fountains, and daily adventures worth ditching the floaties for, like sea turtle boat rides and train rides. The waterslides alone will entertain kids for hours, and parents can keep an eye on their kids while floating down the lazy river.
As night falls, the resort shifts gears—but not pace. Evening brings a full slate of entertainment, from high-energy stage productions to whimsical parades that light up the walkways. Meanwhile, kids can dive into age-specific camp programs—available nightly until 9 p.m. for everyone from infants to teens—giving parents a window of freedom. For those craving a bit more breathing room, private nanny services are also available, including professionals trained to support children with special needs, ensuring every family can make the most of their time away.
For Ages 6 to 10: Windjammer Landing in Saint Lucia
For families that don’t want to sacrifice luxury to appease their children, Windjammer Landing, on Saint Lucia’s Labrelotte Bay, is a brilliant find. Perched on a lush hillside and designed to evoke a Mediterranean fishing village, its whitewashed villas and winding stone paths feel worlds away, without giving up comforts (or the cocktails). It’s Italy without the jetlag. Another all-inclusive stay, this one is all about posh perks, even for the elementary age guest.
At the Jacquot Fun Club—Windjammer Landing’s lively kids’ program—young guests can wind down with beachside movie nights. Singing Hakuna Matata under the stars with the Atlantic stretching out beside you? That might actually top Disney magic. There are mocktail classes and guided horseback riding, too.
However, it was the communal family activities that sold it for my family. The property has its own dock, which meant we were able to board the Knotty Girl speedboat for an afternoon snorkel trip just a short stroll from our villa—a real blessing given St. Lucia’s famously windy roads that had us all feeling car sick. That same day trip took us to the Soufriere Volcano, where we got to coat ourselves in mud then soak in the sulfur springs, an activity my then-seven-year-old found outrageously entertaining. After snorkeling at Sugar Beach, our boat tour deposited right back at Windjammer Landing just in time for happy hour. Can we say, “dream come true?”
Over Thanksgiving, we were treated to one of the most memorable holiday feasts we’ve ever experienced. The property pulled out all the stops, staging a festive floor show complete with fire dancers. Let’s just say Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma’s house will never top that memory.
For Ages 11-17: Tamarind Hills Resort and Villas in Antigua
Once you’re teetering into tween territory, the whole Caribbean vacation template a parent has become accustomed to gets thrown out the window. Pubescent kids want a say in a trip’s itinerary, and merely “playing on the beach” likely ain’t gonna cut it.
For this anxious age, I suggest Antigua’s Tamarind Hills Resort and Villas. A teenager can’t complain when they discover they’ve landed on an island with a beach for every day of the year—365 shores on this Leeward island. And two of the best are found hugging Tamarind Hills, a boutique property approximately 30 minutes from the airport. With an on-site restaurant and bar and gorgeous multi-room accommodations, this is the ultimate multi-gen destination.
Why will it appeal to older kids? First, in addition to those stunning beaches, it has more than the sand to keep them entertained. There’s croquet on the lawn, or they can cool off indoors and play on the island’s only resort golf simulator. Plus, less than a five-minute drive from Tamarind Hills sits Swash Water Park, a 150-foot inflatable obstacle course floating on the water. It’s a chance to bond as a family over some splashy competition—or let independent teens burn off energy (and, let’s be honest, a little angst) on a giant, waterborne jump castle.
Back at the resort, you can start the day with a family fitness challenge: oceanside yoga or ask the remarkably thoughtful concierge to book an outing, like my personal favorite, scooter snorkeling. Like being pulled underwater by a DustBuster vacuum, this hilarious and easy way to see sea turtles and stingrays is available to swimmers ages 10 and up. The ultimate selfie cred for social teens, the Skylork Scooter Snorkel team photographs the entire 45-minute excursion so everyone has a digital keepsake to take home from the experience—well worth a laugh reviewing with your fam back at the resort’s Wild Tamarind Restaurant that night.
